Maid of Honor

Before the Wedding

Assist the bride in locating dresses, entertainment, flowers and photographers.
Help the bride address invitations.
Plan the bridal shower.
Be a support and help to the bride for all she may need.

Wedding Day

Arrive with bride to assist her with dressing, such as ingadjust her train and veil.
prepare for emergency kit with emery board, extra hose, bobby pins, safety pins, sewing kit, clear fingernail polish, etc.
Hold the bride's bouquet during the ceremony.
Keep the groom's ring during the ceremony.
Sign the marriage license as a witness (unless it is a confidential license).
Maid of honor may also give a toast after the best man.
Gather the bride's personal momentos from the reception area, such as toasting glasses, cake knife, cake top piece, extra favors, matches, etc.
Help the bride change into her going away clothes and make sure the best man has taken care of the luggage.
Lastly, check the bride's dressing room for any left items.

Best Man

Before the Wedding

Take charge of making arrangements for the bachelor dinner. Make sure that all of the groom's male friends are invited.
Select the collective gift to be presented to the groom.
Confirm all honeymoon reservations the day before the wedding. Make sure the groom has the tickets.
If the groom is taking his car on the honeymoon, make sure his gas tank is full.

Wedding Day

Provide transportation to get the groom to the ceremony.
Arrive early to assist the groom in dressing and packing.
Be sure the car is parked in a strategic spot for a smooth getaway and load the luggage into it. (don't forget the bride's luggage).
Sign the marriage license as a witness (unless it is a confidential license).
Attain the minister's fee from the groom and pay him before the ceremony.
Keep the bride's ring during the ceremony.
Offer the toast after the ceremony.
Read telegrams, dance with both the bride and the maid of honor.
Help collect the gifts and load them into the designated car.
Make sure the car is ready to go at the end of the reception.
